RE: 1988 B230ft Daily Driver/ Race Machine!
So I completely blew a 012 maf to pieces so I had to improvise. I had a dead 012 but the case was still good and I had a working 016 so I removed the guts from the 016 and threw them in the 012. And it works perfectly. I was also having a problem because the location for my idle air motor port was pre maf so it was taking air from before it and dumping it into the intake and making all sorts of havok so I decided to do this because I didn't want to redo my intercooler piping.

And it works perfectly. Awesome harbor freight 4 dollar fix. And now for the video

Enjoy!

Exhaust finally! It's so quiet in the car now. Quite possibly my favorite thing done to the car yet!

RE: 1988 B230ft Daily Driver/ Race Machine!
So i have never been to a real volvo meet before so i figured i should tidy up my 244 and drive it down to big sur with socalsean. i got kinda out of hand and have been working 10 hour days on the car for the past 3 days. Honestly these days have been both brutal and super rewarding! heres some pictures of what has transpired.

First I decieded that the standard b230 intake manifold was restrictive so i decieded to make a hybrid intake manifold, i took a b21f manifold and converted it to efi. and you will see in the pictures why i did this, the manifold for one actually has a decent plenum, and equal runners are a plus. and the inner diameter of the runners is alot bigger the the b230 manifold.

i also had a completely janky harness, meaning there was a massive amount of crimp connectors and it looked like crap. so i removed the entire harness and shortened, re routed and solderd the whole thing. and the car actually runs better now:lol:

i found a bitchen momo wheel at the junkyard that made a nice addition too the interior and i also wired in audi 90 52mm gauges which look extremely nice in the car

i fabbed up a atp esque ultimate wastegate housing because the ebay one wasnt doin it, and i had to get rid of the aweful flux core down pipe i made

240whp and 250 torque at 12psi. I'm running super lean! Need the bigger fuel system soon so I can turn the boost up and get 300wheel Smile. Runs super well other then the lean issue

RE: 1988 B230ft Daily Driver/ Race Machine!
So i haver been having a lean issue since i switched my setup, so we strapped it down on thew dyno so we could do a little before and after i do a few more modifications, first of the car runs lean after 11psi this i have been tracing down and Mike (lostartof) has been giving me suggestions as to what to do. so basically all that has been done is a new pump which helped. so heres what it did

240whp
250tq
@11psi

now the mods that will be thrown on and individually tested:

1000cc injector
044 pump
6 an fuel system
upgraded main pump wiring
and custom rail
960 Throttle body
Nathan tb adapter
wrapped downpipe

the car has as of now since the last dyno
header
b21 intake
non surging turbo
external wastegate

last documented pull was at 269whp about 3 months ago and it was at about 24-26psi range on stock manifold

1000cc injectors for the fuel i am missing out on
[Image: photobucket-2822-1322111690998.jpg]

and my junkyard 044 solution! yes at full song the mercedes v-8 kjet pumps flow almost as much as the bosch 044 Smile
its massive compared to the stock pump lol. got it for 5 fifty free!

will post more pics when the fuel system is done and the updated wiring and relay trick!

if i remember correctly, the mercedes k-jet pump outflows the 044 at higher pressures, too...
they're monstrous pumps. i'd planned on using one, but turns out mine's toast.

Not really. The 044 outflows the Mercedes pump by a factor of two at 42psi operating pressure. As pressure increases, that factor becomes a lot higher in favor of the 044. It's still a decent pump though.

Beyond 80psi, the difference in flow becomes exponential. The 044 keeps going where the Mercedes pump falls off in flow pretty quick.
