RE: Brave Sir Robin
thanks, this one has been a challenge with all the worn out/cooked/broken items. it's back on the road with the strut tight but the window continues to act up and i'm getting ready to tear the dash apart to fix heat/AC...

yeah sorry about the missing info, i removed most of the thread in a fit of rage; i meant to restore it but only got most of the thread fixed. it has a 3 1/2" mandrel bent downpipe to the 3" cat; 3" to the back with a single magnaflow. the folks at Knox were very helpful in finding the holset-sized outlet flange. since you are interested i will go take a pic or two.

while somewhat low it doesn't scrape on things easily.

and now that i have reduced the fuel pressure to 2.5bar the mixture is nowhere near as rich; the blackness is beginning to disappear from inside the tailpipe. it still bogs somewhat but much less and the acceleration is explosive when it hits boost! can't wait to start playing with larger AMM/injectors/E85.

I need to do my heater core and probably fumble with the AC system after that. Let me know how yours goes. Shouldnt be any different behind the dash than any other 700 series with climate control right? Maybe I'll come help with yours so I have a better idea for doing mine.

That looks like a pretty good system. Did you just have a local exhaust shop build it for you? Smog isnt a problem because it has a cat right? Do you just swap in the airbox once a year?

Sorry so many questions but the last time I had a Volvo I was in Portland where I could just go to the Vshop, RSI and IPD whenever I needed to. Kinda have to be more creative down here lol

RE: Brave Sir Robin
i have expert help on hand here; so as per usual i cannot claim too much of the credit. the photo could also be titled "what the airbag will do to someone's dash if you wire it that way in a prank".

in a somewhat related cool story now that another instrument panel is in the dash, my clock now works but still no love from the fuel level sender/gauge circuit. also now that all the warning lamps are in, the SRS light is on... whee! i'll need to be diligent in looking into these matters further.

it is very cool though to see the climate control system wake up and work perfect, and the updated style NAPA heater valve is in play. in order to finish this job up properly i need to follow through and wake up the AC next.

in this photo, most of the factory finish is removed except for some chunks at the end of the recess. though i am slowly gnawing away at these with 100 grit, by hand, you can see a couple places where i have gone through the veneer sanding down the deep cracks.

about half done, the finish is thick and difficult to remove by hand.

factory glass and a second set of wood delivered, thanks wennstroma!

this set should be a lot easier to sand out, as half the finish is already flaking off the main piece. this is what i was able to remove in ten minutes picking at it with my fingernail:

i figure i will fix both sets, one with an alternate 'tiger stripe' (figure) maple or ?. decide which one looks best. the original door pieces are not "bookmarked" (mirror image piece of the same veneer cut) so i will likely buy suitable veneer to add this craft detail when i glue them up.
