The Rustbucket RaceMachine! (78 242)
I picked up this 78 242 from Andy in late november. My 88 244 was out of commission and had alot of work that needed to be done. I however needed a daily driver because i was carpooling with my girlfriend a it was a real hit/miss situation. I picked up this Jem and have been driving it ALOT. This car actually motivated me to get my 244 up and running. I put about 5k on it and then tragedy struck and the flywheel busted loose from the crank causing the timing belt to snap and all sorts of other chaos. I removed the transmission and tightened down the flywheel. The cushioning springs in the clutch disk were cracked. i cut the spring out and re assembled it. It drives great now, it rattles a bit if you lug it but other then that it has become my daily driver again! this is a great car that is going to be a budget racer, me and Sean (socalsean) are brewing some stuff up for this beast that is going to make it scary fast!

As it sits:
LH 1.0
M45
B21f
Billy hds rear
Virgo's
Electric Fan
Turbo Front Sway

To come:
Things that will make the car stupid fast Smile

As i got it:

If you ever want to pull the LH1.0 I will buy the goods from you. It's about the easiest way to convert a car to MS and have it fly through the ref station. A very simple wiring harness.

I know the meaning of life.

Car is being changed to my main daily driver. Lh2.2/ezk is going in and a healthy b230f along with a bcam and a non intercooled 15g at 5-7 psi for some more scoot

RE: The Rustbucket RaceMachine! (78 242)
So the car is on lh2.2. Couldn't stand the hackjob wiring and the fact the the P.O. left the old kjet harness intact. Did the full conversion in about 2it hours and gonna dyno it tomorrow. Car feels alot quicker. Probably had something to do with all the butt connectors and crap. So the plan is now to throw a 15g, non intercooled, 850 wastegate, blow through maf and ssqv. It has a m47 with a resurfaced flywheel and new pressure plate and clutch so it should hold the 5-7 psi I'm gonna throw at it

Why non intercooled? ICs are cheap, you already have the right intake mani, and the assorted piping for it won't be hard to find. In fact to go non-ic I'm pretty sure you would either need to change your intake mani or get creative with the intake piping -- there's no stock non-ic B230 manifold piping.

edit\\

unless your non-ic 15g plan is out the window and jdm love is in reference to an engine swap

please say something like a 13b, that would be baller

actually i mapped out the intake piping for when i was going to do this and it was not going to be difficult, i was going to use steel piping going from the compressor over the valve cover and then 2 90s and the maf between them, i alread mapped it out and it looked awesome. but the plans keep on changing and now me and a friend are locked down on a goal for this car.

RE: The Rustbucket RaceMachine! (78 242)
so the stupid car is so low it wouldnt make it over the driveway into the garage, and think 20k drive way or a 100 dollar volvo. Facepalm im swedish but am a redneck at heart, the car got the 2x4 treatment.
