BADVLVO
Guess it's time to start a thread about my car.

How it is right now-
1980 244
Suspension-
Front coil-overs 400lb springs, rear ipd springs cut 1.5 turns. Bilstein HD's. Poly bushings up front and in the rear arm front position. Yoshifab torque rods. IPD panhard rod amd28mm front sway, no rear sway, mod'd G-80. Manual steering.
Wheels/Tires-
Borbet 15x7 w/ Hankook RS-3 225-50-15 rubber
Body-
Plastic bumpers off an 83
Upper and lower Yoshifab chassis braces
Flathood w/ aussie grille
Quad rounds, H4's outboard, Bosch fogs inboard.
5 panel euro tails.
Interior-
90 grey door panels and back seat.
Black carpet
Corbeau race seats
R-Sport wheel
Emptied out the under-dash crap. No heater, ac or other crap.
Added 5" Autometer tach and Autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge, moved switches to driver vent location.
Blocked off the vents.
Engine/trans-
B21F has died. Long live the B21F
Motorsport WC T-5 close-ratio
One piece Mustang shaft w/ Yoshifab adapter
6-puck Clutchnet clutch
Hurst shifter base with custom lever.

In the works-
B230FT squirter block
Ported 530 w/ big valves
D-cam (so I can pass CA smog when I come back!)
Late 940 intercooler
Super 60 turbo

Primarily autocross this car so it's not set to be a DD. I don't have big HP goals, I want a car that does well at the autocross without swapping wheels and tires every event, has enough HP for track days and is tractable enough to drive in traffic.

I know the meaning of life.

Looks good on paper, if you're still in TN Oct 23rd bring it up to the Dayton Autocross.

Ooh, is this the 1st BS challenge on record?

All trash talking aside, it would be nice to have another well prepared Volvo at my local autocross. I'll even give you a place to stay and we can see who's faster with a hangover.

RE: BADVLVO
Motor's blown and I am waiting to have funds to build again. It probably won't be running by then.

I'm faster with a hangover, I have proven that in the past. Ask Scotty, Keith or Alden, we frequently raced after long drinking sessions and very limited sleep.

Know of that only as a pushrod grind.

Don't whimper out on a good shell, they're getting hard to find.
Grab a donor car and give it a heart-lung transplant, and drive it back out.
imo.

RE: BADVLVO
The OHC D-cam is an Aussie thing. Slightly smaller than the K, and like 3 degrees less duration make it a little better for the smog Nazis.

I am NOT driving this car back! 30 hours on public highways? If it comes back it's coming on a trailer. I have no money for a donor here, non-running cars fetch 6-700 all the time because they would rather have it rust than sell it for a reasonable price.

RE: BADVLVO
Maybe find a wrecked car with your shop connections there, and have some TB'er drive it out on spring break when they buy a west coast car?

It won't be a comfortable ride, it's very stiff, very loud, no insulation, it's not a road car at this point.

RE: BADVLVO
Well the latest on the motor.......

Not dead, just jumped the timing belt again.

The pop was something else, looks like it dropped a chunk of spark plug into the #2 cylinder, no fire, no plug. Think that was hanging the valve open but I think that just may have been a chunk of the plug hanging it up.

I drove it home today, parking it under the carport and it's going to hang out here for a spell.

Hard to kill those M rod engines.

I just picked up a known good cyl head from the 78 GT in Sierra Madre from UTAHGTBRICK for $20 if it turns out you need one.

Not being pushy, but even reasonable 240's are getting hard to find out here, and getting spendy.

I need more than that! I don't have the seal retainers or a lot of the other little stuff, this is just a bare long block right now.

RE: BADVLVO
More changes in the works, decided to buy an intake and header from Nathan for my B230FT. So in order for that to be at home under the hood I need to get to work on the head. Got a good 530, getting bigger valves installed and a little port work along with some good valve springs. A Cometic gasket and ARP head studs should keep this nice and sealed.

That leaves me with the turbo. I still have an HE341 here that should be good (I hope!), and I should have almost all the intercooler plumbing I need for this project.

The MS1 box is ready to install, just need the harness and injectors, all the other sensors are here waiting for a motor.

I now have the electric PS stuff off an MR2, just need a ZF power rack and I am back in the power steering world.

The Ben's camber plates are getting modified for a weld-in installation, adding a little adjustment for the camber and tabs for the strut tower brace directly to them.

NEED some 900 inserts so I can cut the strut tubes and a high preload TrueTrac.

The BIG development in the works is the new BADVLVO approved spherical bearing TAB's, no bind of the poly, no slop of the rubber. Once these are in along with the short struts and the camber plate mod I should be done with the suspension for now. It works well and I am going to concentrate on the HP production once it's done.

I know the meaning of life.
