doesn't seem to damage the carrier. failures are.. well, pseudo random. I imagine twisting over several launches/runs just makes them weaker at the insertion point.

the hate is building, the love has vanished. Went out to crank the car up to head to IFO, nothin' doing.

fucking CAS is dead. the cam sync pickup is stuck at 5v, the crank sync works fine. I don't understand this piece of shit.

Does your cas have a built in plug or the pigtail? I have never seen one fail and that does not seem like a mode of failure that is possible.

it has a pigtail. I took it apart and cleaned everything up. without the trigger disc installed I get ~5v from both. when I put the disc back in, I get a nice ~.2v to 5v swap from the outer sensor, and nothing but a constant 5v from the inner (cam) sensor regardless of disc position.

Catfight

it's gotten worse since yesterday morning. I went out last night after dinner to see if it was something stupid in the wiring harness, and now it won't even switch on the crank trigger. disconnected the two signal wires to the ecu, and I can watch the cas do something between the windows on both triggers (3.5 to 2v or something like that). hook the wires back up, solid 4.98v, no change on either one.

so now what? Now I"m going to hook it all back up and pull the two pins off the connector at the ecu but with the 5v pullups still attached, and see what happens.

I really have no desire to re-wire the car again

I'll check it at lunch, won't take 5 minutes to pop the signal pins out and leave the pullups connected

mm I'm still pointing to the cas. unhooked the signal pins at the ecu, left the 5v pullups connected, powered everything up, and it still just sits there at 5v on both signals.

new cas is here. some brief testing to verify the old one is in fact toast, and it should be back up and running fairly quickly.

well, wanted to take the car to the track sunday, but they're still grinding the surface. looks like the 27th or the 4th now. I think I'm going to change how the BCS is hooked up, maybe get some better spoolage out of the turbo. might try some old school tricks with the software as well; the closed loop control isn't exactly dialed in yet so I have to run open loop (I guess I could try and fix that, but who wants to do things the right way?)

Just going to tune it for high egt off boost to help it spool and jug the shit out of it?

RE: The Gold Bomb (still shooting for 9's in 2011)
I'd have to know what the egt's are to tune for that Wink (I need to get some thermal couples, I can log it in the proefi).

finally got the car to the track today, but it was more tedious than it should have been, and I wasn't (isn't am not) feeling all that great either. I worked out the duty cycles for the new boost solenoid routing, seems to spool a little faster without pulling any tricks (heh heh), and the DC is way down now. At the ~40% or so it was at before, I'd hit around 280kpa off the spray (1.8 bar), on the way to the track, I rolled off in it and in a split second it shot up to around 433kpa. heh. DC's are around 18-20% now. Car did as expected for no-nitrous passes (And I only made one full pass, the first one was ok but I was only running about 16psi and it's not really tuned for that, so it started to break up a little), ran a 13.2 @ 123.

I'll try and get back out to the track weather permitting in the next week or two (and drag sam with me), might throw the slicks on it and see what it'll do with the good shot. No funny stuff from the cooling system this time, aside from a couple (rich) back fires the car did great.

this will probably be the last trip to the track of the year for me. I've got a list of things that need to happen (As well as a list of things that need to happen to the green car), so it doesn't look like we're going to hit our goal Sad maybe a good day at the track will net some deeper 10's, maybe I'll put the slicks on and try not to break an axle (wheel hop is a beeeotch) first shot out with the spray.

and damnit the front gate port is cracked at the collector. think it's due to vibration (front dump tube occasionally rolling forward and hitting the core support). a spot of mig to keep things honest, and a fix later.

replaced the broken axle (g80 axles are shorter than open axles, hm. we'll see how this turns out), going to put slicks on it and see what happens tomorrow. Sam is dying to drive it, so I'll video the experiment. worst case scenario it breaks another free axle, but we're thinking that the lack of wheel hop will cut down on the odds of that (I've left *much* harder on stock axles without breaking them)

I believe too, but I've also been repairing a lot lately. also more than likely buying a new house (if my realtor will get back to me :-D ) so that's going to hem up any kind of spare money for quite some time.
